Tablet

Tablets represent an exciting channel for customer engagement and enhanced service delivery; in fact, the importance of tablets for in-store or on-premise sales support is growing steadily.

The U-Experience platform enables a range of tablet solutions, which include native apps or browser-based experiences that deliver enhanced features and functionality for customers.

AEROPOSTALE

Aeropostale partnered with Usablenet to create a customizable in-store experience which would create an emotional connection with, and reflect the personal style and needs of its millennial shopper customer, 15 – 17 year old teenagers.

Developed as an iPad application, the experience offers a range of engaging experiences:

  • Curated videos, reflecting seasonal fashion trends and trending styles;
  • Build-your-own outfit guides, that a user can email to herself or her friends, and which can be purchased online;
  • Style Guide where customers may view and purchase curated and complete looks that are seasonal and on trend;
  • The ability to scan in-store bar codes to learn more about products. This pulls additional content from the website, enabling alternate color suggestions, and suggestions for items that "go well with" the chosen look;
  • Vote on the music playing in the store. This is a unique feature that taps into the social-sharing nature of the Aeropostale customer, and increases shopper engagement;
  • Customers can also shop an optimized version of Aeropostale's ecommerce site to find hard-to-find items, and place orders to ship home.

Marks & Spencer

The business case for the Sales Associate tablet for Marks and Spencer reflects the challenges many retailers face. Firstly, the existing network of stores included smaller boutique stores that couldn’t fit the full range of Inventory. Secondly, is some departments sizing and fitting is complex, such as in Men’s Suiting. The M&S Sales Associate iPad’s primary goal was to provide decision support to facilitate purchase. For example, the experience allows assistants to scan barcodes to move directly to the correct product details and access the full e-commerce offer.

Should a customer’s required size be unavailable in-store, the assistant can order direct from the iPad and arrange shipping or delivery.
