Solution Engineer

Relying on his/her technical expertise and communication skill, the Solutions Engineer owns all technical aspects of the pre-sales process. This includes educating customers on the Usablenet platform, developing deeper relationships with the customer’s technical team thereby increasing trust within the client’s organization, developing innovative solutions to a client’s problem, reducing technical misunderstandings which will increase profitability, ensure on-time delivery and reduce rework. Once an opportunity has been identified, the Solutions Engineer will analyze its technical feasibility, communicate requirements to developers in order to determine timeline/level of effort and lead the hand-off from pre-sales to post-sale integration. The Solutions Engineer will work hand-in-hand with the Account Manager to maintain a strategic relationship with the client through the integration cycle and future opportunities. This position reports to the Solutions Engineer Team Lead.

Responsibilities
Own all technical aspects of the pre-sales cycle.
Educate customers on the Usablenet platform (usually white boarding & presentations) and handle technical questions and objections.
Listen to customers’ business needs, determine pain points and devise solutions.
Technically scope new opportunities (Given what the customer wants, is it technically feasible, what is the level of effort and how long will it take?).
Hand-off to project manager for implementation (be able to communicate customer needs to PM and developers).
Work with Account Manager to maintain strategic relationship with client through integration cycle and future opportunities.
Attend as many client meetings as possible.
Provide technical credibility.
Answer technical questions.
Help client envision the possible.
Sell Usablenet as the innovator in the industry.
Assist sales team in creating/reviewing presentations.
Ensure technical correctness.
Develop relationships with client technical staff.
Ensure we are considered thought leaders.
Ensure that required information is collected the first time for proposals.
Review pricing tickets.
Assist sales in creating requests that are easy for dev to determine LOE.
Work with sales to update ticket if more information is required.
Additional client meeting may be required.
Track ticket progress.
Ensure that all parties are meeting commitments.
Help team to follow proper process.
Develop new.
Corporate presentations.
Customer communications.
Processes.
All these are done in collaboration with appropriate stakeholder e.g. Marketing, Strategy, Development, etc.
Review current customer sites for errors and opportunities.
Create and provide training for Sales on technical topics. 

Education/Skills/Knowledge
Bachelor’s Degree.
Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.
Some programming background, college courses OK.
Some Pre-sales experience a definite plus.
Must know Microsoft office tools.
Familiarity with graphics tools like PhotoShop or GIMP.
A thorough understanding of internet technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML, AJAX) and Internet based network communications (IP, TCP< HTTP, DNS).
A web application development background (Java, PHP, Ruby, .NET or other Web based technologies).
Customer-facing experience in a pre-sales or business consulting capacity.
Experience with CDN technology, 3-party payment systems, display advertising networks, commerce search engines, analytics providers (Google, Coremetrics, Omniture, etc.).
Experience with mobile technology a plus.
Strong value selling skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with others.
Strong oral and written skills – must be able to present in front of groups and communicate effectively via email.
Executive level communication skills and demonstrated ability to create effective sales presentations.
Solid analytical skills to review client’s requirements and propose new creative solutions.
Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
