U@FashionWeek fuses high fashion with the latest in mobile technology
From Google Glasses on Diane von Furstenberg’s runway at New York Fashion Week to live “Tweetwalks” accompanying runway shows at London Fashion Week, technology has crept its way to the front row at fashion weeks around the world. U@FashionWeek is another such advance that brings real-time updates from a variety of social media platforms from the front row to users. This year, we created an experience that allowed users access to the front row in one place. Debuting in New York, we followed the blistering pace of the fashion industry and brought users to London, Milan, Paris, and finally Tokyo. Social media has increased access to the once-exclusive and secretive fashion world. U@FashionWeek taps into this trend by providing a one-stop mobile browser-based experience that centers on the posts of a carefully curated collection of Fashion Week influencers and attendees—notable influencers this year were designer Victoria Beckham, model Karlie Kloss, and streetstyle blogger Tommy Ton of Jak and Jil. U@FashionWeek collects the most current Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest posts from each of the influencers and makes it easy to scroll between different social media feeds using the revolutionary Social Tuner. Want more from any single influencer? Tap their name and you can access all of their Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest posts in one place. The social tuner also provides access to YouTube videos that provide live streams of runway shows. We added a commercial angle by adding shoppable lookbooks from notable brands such as J.Crew, Allsaints, and Zara in which users could swipe through a number of looks and tap hotspots to “get the looks”. None of these features individually are very new, but U@FashionWeek is the first to aggregate all of these features in one place and the first to allow visitors to easily switch between influencers and social media feeds. The uniquely mobile U@FashionWeek experience was built on U-Experience, Usablenet’s mobile platform that presents several key benefits for creating cutting-edge, unique mobile experiences: Usablenet’s Agile Web Services allow for any combination of data from input sources, including images and social APIs from across the internet. We could instantly update every aspect of the site to keep up with shifting trends and geographical locations of fashion week across the world. How did we do it? By using U-Control, a content decision tool which made updating and changing content easy. Leave a Reply |
